Who Is Responsible for Your Data
The Grade Booster operator is responsible for deciding how account data is used. Privacy questions can be sent to support@gradebooster.app.
What We Store
We store account details provided by Clerk, such as user ID, email address, and profile name where available.
We store revision settings including selected subjects, exam boards, tiers, daily goal, and theme preference.
We store revision activity including quiz attempts, answers, scores, active quiz state, progress, streak data, and weak-topic records.
For signed-in users, we store basic product usage such as pages and features visited so we can find confusing or unused parts of the service. This tracking does not store question answer text.
Why We Store It
We use this data to keep users signed in, show course-matched content, save progress, resume quizzes, detect weak topics, and provide support.
We aim to collect only the data needed to run the revision product and improve the student's learning experience.
Product usage data helps us understand which revision features are useful, where students stop, and what needs improving during beta.
We rely on contract where data is needed to provide account features, legitimate interests for service security and improvement, legal obligation where required, and consent for any optional technology that needs it.
Services We Use
Clerk provides authentication and session management.
Neon/Postgres stores account preferences, progress, quiz history, weak topics, and active quiz data.
Our hosting and database providers process data needed to operate the app.
A payment provider processes billing details when a paid subscription is purchased. Grade Booster does not store full card details.
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where required, transfers rely on recognised safeguards provided by those services.
Cookies and Local Storage
Essential cookies and similar technologies are used for authentication, security, saved preferences, and core app features.
Grade Booster does not use analytics cookies.
Signed-in product usage is recorded against the account in our database without using analytics or advertising cookies.
Your Rights
Users can ask to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete personal data. Some rights may depend on the lawful basis and legal requirements.
Signed-in users can export or delete account data from Settings. Privacy requests can also be sent to support@gradebooster.app.
Users may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if they are unhappy with how a privacy request is handled.
Retention and Security
We keep account and progress data while the account is active. Account deletion removes the live application records linked to that account.
Product usage records are deleted with the account and are included in account data exports.
Service providers may retain secure backups for a limited period under their own retention and security processes.
We use authentication, protected routes, user ownership checks, and database relations to keep user data separate. We do not sell personal data.
